This 1938 Cambridge does not appear on the Club database so any previous owners have not been members or not notified details of the car.

I see that for once DVLA got the engine capacity right - 1125cc. But the computer does not recognise any thing older than itself - date of "first registration " shown as November 1984 is date when car was put on Swansea system during closure of the County registration offices, and scrapping of past records for most.

The CGG letters were issued in Feb 1939 in Glasgow and do not appear to have a recorded end date - (Old Car Classic reg numbers). So it would appear that Peter is correct and the car was 'registered' some time much later. Body number would help confirm 1938 as the build date approximately.
Sorry this does not help you at all!
Cheers

Yes, move of umbrella handbrake from RH side to emerge at the centre of the car was early 1939 from chassis No G 170586 / Car No G/RL 170586.

Glasgow reg CGG was from Feb 1939 until replaced by DGG in March 1942

When I put my A10 onto the Swansea computer in the 1980s it appeared on the V5 as a new registration. They had to do a manual input to re-program the computer to recognise the correct date in May 1934. But they could not (or would not) put in any details of previous owners shown on the old registration form. Consequently the V5 showed "One Owner since May 1934". As a further twist, at the back of its mind the computer still thought it was a new registration and for 3 years after the move to Swansea I did have to show my annual MoT certificate to renew the tax at the Post Office.

Same early 1939 central umbrella handbrake deal with Fourteens, Peter?
I noted a '1940' one advertised a while back (number plate AJT97 fwiw) with this feature and I wondered when the change was.
Mine is late 38 first registered 1939 with handle between the steering column and the drivers door, not the best spot for it imo
