Dear members.
I have A Austin ten for over 20 years now ,and I really want too get some more information about this car. The previous owner told me that the car was an ww2 vehicle that was abandoned in Normandy. On the paper in Belgium it says vin nr 16926, on the side under the bonnet there is A number (GSI 248398). Is there somebody that can help me too find the history of this car. Me and my son (7 years old) (37 years myself)won't too take part for an reenactment ww2 .
Thank you very much.
Best regards
Kristof (Belgium)

Austin Belgium
Hello, I'm also from Belgium. To my knowledge, there's no source of information to know if it was used during World War II. I have one that I'm restoring, and mine was indeed used by the Americans (USA marking and number under the hood). If the car has been repainted, it will be complicated. If it needs to be repainted, you'll have to sand either the inside of the hood or the side of the hood (or any other place that Americans love to put their markings).
If you're in Wallonia, I'd be interested in meeting you because mine was bought as a spare part, so there are certain parts that I don't know where they should be or what they look like.
PS: Just in case, you can find me on Facebook under the name Urbain Mike.

A chassis No. as high as GSI 24398 indicates a post-war car, probably 1946 or 47. Most of this model were exported. It is almost identical in appearance to the wartime 10 saloon. So repaint it as a wartime re-enact vehicle if you like. I have seen them painted like that and they look the part.
I regret I cannot help with past history. Maybe your local Belgian registration authorities know when it first appeared on their records? (Though if they are like the UK the system may not recognise any vehicle older than their first computer).
Enjoy
